Book Fair Report

A book fair was organized at the local Baring Union Christian College, Batala under the leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and with the support of Library committee convener Dr. Anju Puri and Librarian Mrs. Meera Abrol keeping student’s need in mind. On this occasion, the book stalls were set up by Lyall Book Depot, Ludhiana. At the beginning of the program, the Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra participated as the chief guest and inaugurated the book fair. He praised the library department for taking this initiative keeping the convenience of the students as the main focus . On this occasion, students showed enthusiasm and love for books and bought books. Most of the students purchased the books on competitive examinations like UGC NET, Government recruitment preparation books, entrance examination preparation books, motivational books etc. Apart from this, Punjabi, English, Chemistry, Zoology, Biology, Commerce, History, Computer books were also purchased by the students and teachers. At the end, Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra congratulated Librarian Mrs. Meera Abrol, the Library committee members Dr. Anju Puri, Dr. J.P Singh, Dr. Savita Malhotra, Prof. Ashwani Kumar and the Library staff Mr. Samson, Mr. Eric Daniel, Mr. Kashmir, Mr. Victor Masih, Miss Neetu, Nisha, Lovely and encouraged them.

 
 

One day Seminar on The Role of Youth in Promoting Peace organized

Under the able and dynamic leadership of officiating Principal, Dr. Ashwani Kansra and with the efforts of Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Dept. of Botany, a one-day seminar on "The Role of Youth in Promoting Peace in Society" was organised on Oct. 21, 2024 in collaboration with the Ahmaddiyya Muslim Community, India. The event unfolded with the welcome address by Dr. Ashwani Kansra, followed by a brief introduction of the Ahmaddiyya Muslim Community by one of its' missionaries,Mr. Hussam Ahmad. Thereafter the two resource persons i.e. Prof. Mandeep Bedi, BUCC and Mr. Tarik K. Ahmad, Spokesperson, AMC deliberated on the potential of youngsters in promoting global harmony and peace. A short documentary on Golden Principles of World Peace was also shown to the audience. In the end, there was a Panel discussion wherein the Panelists, Dr. Kansra, Mr. Tarik, Prof. Bedi and Mr. Hussam had a fruitful discussion with the staff and the students and satisfied their queries. A book stall was also organised by AMC where the literature related to world peace and prevention of third world war was distributed to the students and staff free of cost. The seminar saw an overwhelming response from the students. Many missionaries of AMC and the staff members of Baring college i.e. Dr.Rajan Chaudhary, Dr. Amita, Dr. Sushma Sharma, Prof. Neeraj Sharma, Dr. Ritu Pandhi, Dr. Mridula, Prof. Ramandeep, Prof. Neha, Prof. Amandeep, Prof. Suman Maini, Prof. Bharat, Ms. Sukhmeet, Mr.Robin and Mr. Jagjit took an active part in the seminar.

 
 

Plantation Drive at College Campus

Under the able and dynamic leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and with the efforts of Nodal Officer, Ms. Mandeep Bedi, Eco-Club and Plantation Committee of the college in collaboration with HDFC bank, Batala, undertook a Plantation drive in the college campus on October 9, 2024. Around 40 saplings including shade, fruit and ornamental plants were planted by the officials of the bank and college staff. Students were also actively involved in the activity in order to generate awareness regarding the importance of green cover in combating global warming and encourage them to plant more trees. Mr. Kirpal Singh, Branch Operation Manager and staff of HDFC bank, Batala, Mr. Arvinder Kapoor, Mr. Bahadur Singh and Mr. Kareer along with college staff ,Dr. Amita, Dr. Mridula and Mr. Ashwani took an active part in the initiative, which forms a part of Environment Education Program supported by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, GOI, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology and College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar.

 
 

Huge congratulations to NCC Cadet Abhishek Kumar

We are thrilled to inform that Abhishek Kumar, a dedicated NCC CDT has brought laurels to BUC College. He has clinched 2nd position in Map Reading Competition out of 17 Directorates in Thal Sena Camp (TSC), 2024. It is worth mentioning that there were only 3 cadets from ASR Group and he was the only one from 22 Pb Bn NCC, Batala. His exceptional performance has not only earned him silver medal from Director General of NCC but also cash prize from Additional Director General (ADG) Major General Manjit Singh Mokha. He was also honored by Group Commander K.S. Bawa at Amritsar and awarded cash prize. On this remarkable achievement of Abhishek Kumar, Officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra congratulated and honored him for bringing name and fame to college. Dr. Mridula Dogra, NCC CTO also congratulated him for his outstanding performance and setting an example for entire NCC Wing of college.

 
 

Swachh Bharat Diwas

NCC WING of BUC College, Batala celebrated Swachh Swachh Bharat Diwas on 27.09.2024 under the able guidance of officiating principal, Dr. Ashwani Kansra and NCC CTO, Dr.Mridula Dogra. Dr. Mridula Dogra gave a brief overview of this mission and dicussed major objectives of this campaign for Clean India Mission. Cadets contributed to this mission by expressing their ideas through slogan writing, speech and poetry recitation followed by cleanliness of college premises. Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra addressed students and appreciated the efforts of NCC cadets for their enthusiastic participation. His thought provoking insights on keeping environment clean inspired students to carry forward the message of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan to community. In this event, Prof. Jatinder Kaur, Prof. Alka Bamotra, Prof. Ramandeep Kaur and Mr. Robin were also present.

 
 

Awareness lecture regarding the setting up of micro/small food processing enterprises.

Under the valuable guidance and leadership of Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Officiating Principal and appreciable efforts of Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyar, Incharge, Department of Economics and Convener of Guidance, Counselling and Placement Cell of Baring Union Christian College, Batala conducted an awareness lecture regarding the setting up of micro/small food processing enterprises under Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme on 12 September, 2024. Mr. Baljinder Singh, District Resource Person From Punjab Agro Industries Corporation acted as keynote speaker for the same. The program was started with a brief introduction to the MSME scheme by Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyar. Following this, the guest was formally welcomed by Dr. Ashwani Kansra. In welcome address, Dr. Kansra emphasized the significance of entrepreneurship and innovation, particularly for young graduates looking to make a mark in the business world. He motivated the students by encouraging them to become job creators rather than job seekers, stressing the significance of self- employment and its potential to contribute to the nation’s economic growth. Further, Mr. Baljinder Singh, in his presentation, made the students familiar with the concept of self reliance through PMFME scheme. He explained how students could get benefit from the scheme by starting their own small-scale businesses, particularly in the food processing sector, and emphasized the ease of access to support and resources under his initiative. At the end of the program, Prof. Mandeep Kaur Bedi presented a formal vote of thanks. The committee members including Dr. Jagwinder Kaur Cheema, Prof. Narinder Singh, Dr.Amita, Mr. Harpreet Singh Randhawa, Ms. Amanjot Kaur Randhawa, Ms. Shveta Sharma, Mr. Bharat, Ms. Nitika were present in the program. In a proud moment, Eco -Club of Baring college running under the stewardship of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and Nodal Officer Ms. Mandeep Bedi, was awarded "Certificate of Excellence" for outstanding performance in implementation of Environment Education Program by Dean VRC Dr.Saroj Arora, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr. K. S. Bath, Joint Director, PSCST and Dr. Mandakini Thakur, Project Scientist, PSCST on September 24, 2024. Of the total 100 colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, 6 top performing colleges were selected for this award. Principal Dr. Kansra congratulated the convener Ms. Mandeep Bedi and members of Eco-Club i.e. Dr. Amita, Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Dr. Mridula Dogra and appreciated their efforts towards the spread of awareness regarding the conservation of the environment.

Under the able and committed leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and the guidance of Dr. Amita, convener, Red Ribbon Club, an awareness campaign regarding the drug de-addiction and HIV /AIDS was organised in the village Gaonspura, Batala. Dr. Amita and Prof. Mandeep Bedi made aware the people of the village about the topic.Dr Isha Lumb and student volunteers of Red Ribbon Club interacted with the people and the students explained the causes and precautions of HIV AIDS and Drug abuse through posters.

It's worth mentioning that three top position holders of APT Intra-College Quiz will be representing the Baing College in the coming GNDU Zonal Youth Festival to be organised in GNDU, Amritsar. Some of the winners will also be registered in the Natinal Level Online Quiz to be coducted by the Reserve Bank of India. Other participants were Jasmin kaur, Samit, Richa, Anmol Kumar, Kanishka sharma, Saurav Sharma and Ruhani.

World Ozone Day Celebrations

Under the able and dynamic leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and with the efforts of Nodal Officer, Ms. Mandeep Bedi, Eco-Club of the college celebrated 30th International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on September 16,2024. .As a part of Environment Education Program supported by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, GOI, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology and College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar, a number of competitions including Rangoli, Poster and Collage-making, related to the theme of ozone preservation, were organised. An awareness lecture on the topic ‘Sustainable Development Goals and their Environmental Effects’ formed the star attraction of the day. The resource person Dr. Sandip Singh while giving his insights into the relevance of SDGs for ensuring a sustainable future emphasized on the broader role of Montreal Protocol in combating global climate change. All the participants took mission LiFE pledge and the winners were awarded prizes and certificates. The event came out to be a great success with the efforts of Eco-Club members Dr. Amita, Mr. Ashwani, Dr. Mridula and Ms. Ramandeep Kaur.

The event's success was largely attributed to the exceptional coordination by Prof. Aru Malhotra (Coordinator), whose tireless efforts ensured a spectacular and unforgettable experience for all participants.
The auditorium was set aglow with an extraordinary display of talent and exuberance as the illustrious faculty members and students of the Postgraduate Department of Commerce assembled to celebrate the eagerly awaited 'Fresher Party-2024'. The 'Mr. & Miss Fresher 2024' competition was the icing on the cake, showcasing the participants' innovative flair, talent, and captivating stage presence, leaving the audience in awe. The Fresher Party was a vibrant celebration of excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter, and happiness, where seniors and juniors united in a celebration of their shared college experience.
The trio of Vidhi, Samridhi, and Mehak of B.Com. 3rd year masterfully hosted the event, setting the tone for an unforgettable day, under the guidance of Prof. Payal Handa.
Directed by Prof. Pawandeep Kaur, the skit "Life Hai Tu Mobile Hai" was a powerful commentary on the pervasive influence of mobile phones in our lives. The 7-student cast delivered a nuanced performance, exploring various aspects of life dominated by mobile phones. The skit concluded with a timely reminder: don't let mobile phones control your life.
Directed by Prof. Chahat, the second skit, performed by 8 talented students of B. COM. 1st year, tackled a critical issue: the migration of Punjab's youth to foreign shores, often via illicit means. The skit shed light on the consequences of this trend and emphasized the importance of embracing opportunities in one's own homeland. The performance ended with a resounding message: "To stay in Punjab", encouraging students to appreciate their own state's value and explore local opportunities.
The Fresher Party reached its zenith with the eagerly awaited Mr. & Miss Fresher competition, where Dilpreet Singh and Harjot Kaur were crowned the supreme winners. The moment of triumph was met with a standing ovation as they graciously accepted their well-deserved titles, reveling in the accolades of their peers. With their irresistible charm, exceptional talent, and mesmerizing stage presence, Dilpreet and Harjot embodied the essence of freshers, establishing a lofty benchmark for future cohorts.
The department extends special appreciation to Event Coordinator Prof. Harpreet Singh Randhawa for masterfully curating an unforgettable experience that will be etched in the annals of the students' memories forever!
As the celebration came to a close, the 1st Year students delivered a resounding grand finale with their traditional dance performance of "Gidha", leaving an indelible mark on the "Freshers Party 2024". The 11 talented beauties, under the expert guidance of Prof. Manpreet Kaur, mesmerized the audience with their energetic and synchronized performance, bringing the house down with applause.
The vote of thanks was graciously proposed by the Head of Department, Dr. Jagvinder Kaur Cheema, who commenced by expressing profound gratitude to the coordinator of Fresher Party-2024, Prof. Aru Malhotra, for her unwavering dedication and meticulous planning, which culminated in a truly unforgettable experience.
Dr. Cheema then extended her heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff of the Commerce Department, whose collective synergy and passion were pivotal in creating an extraordinary celebration. She also acknowledged the talented students who showcased their remarkable skills and performances, making the event a true testament to the department's creativity and talent.

The Commerce Department of B.U.C. College, Batala recently hosted a successful two-day workshop on 'Career in Securities Market & Developing Good Investment Habits' in association with NISM (National Institute of Securities Market). The event aimed to equip students and faculty with knowledge, skills, and insights to navigate the world of finance with confidence. On the first day, Mrs. Anita Saini, a seasoned expert in the securities market, covered topics such as career opportunities, financial investments, and the process of investing in securities markets. Participants gained valuable insights into the importance of financial literacy and career awareness. On the second day, Mr. Nagesh Kumar, a Chartered Financial Analyst with over 15 years of industry experience, shared his expertise on capital market operations, compliance, and financial planning. He covered critical topics such as investment through primary and secondary markets, mutual funds, alternative investments, and precautions while investing in securities markets. The workshop was anchored by Prof. Harpreet Singh Randhawa, who skillfully moderated the sessions and ensured a smooth flow of the event. The workshop was a huge success, with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty. The event was organized by Coordinator Prof. Aru Malhotra, with support from the Commerce Department faculty and staff. Technical support for the workshop given by Miss Sukhmeet Kaur. Dr. Jagvinder Kaur Cheema expressed her thrill at hosting the workshop, stating, "We are thrilled to have hosted this workshop, which provided a platform for our students and faculty to learn from industry experts." Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra emphasized the importance of financial literacy and career awareness, saying, "Financial literacy and career awareness are crucial for success in today's fast-paced financial landscape. We are grateful to NISM and our speakers for sharing their expertise." On this occasion, The College Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra told that in Baring’s DR. Ram Singh Library there is an facility of open book shelf. There is also book bank facility from here books are provided to meritorious and needy students on a large scale throughout the year. /p>

The resource person was Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Assistant Prof. department of Botany. Prof. Bedi explained the causes and consequences of drug de-addiction. She motivated the students to fight this menace with an iron will in order to restore a prosperous, vibrant and drug free Punjab.

 
 

Seminar by Prof Ashwani Kumar on Cyber Security and awareness organised by NSS unit

The NSS Unit of Baring Union Christian College,Batala successfully organized a Cyber Awareness program under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and NSS incharge Alka Bamotra on 16 August, 2024. The event was conducted with the aim of educating students and staff about the importance of cyber security in today's digital age. The session was led by Mr. Ashwani Kumar, an expert from the Computer Science Department, who provided invaluable insights into the complexities of cyber threats and best practices for maintaining digital security. The program commenced at 1:00 pm with a warm welcome address by Alka Bamotra, the NSS Coordinator. This was followed by an introduction of the resource person, Mr. Ashwani Kumar, who holds extensive knowledge in the field of computer science, particularly in cyber security.
Mr. Ashwani Kumar began his presentation by highlighting the increasing relevance of cyber security in everyday life. He emphasized the various types of cyber threats, including phishing, malware attacks, ransomware, and data breaches. His presentation was enriched with real-life examples that demonstrated the potential dangers of neglecting cyber security. During the session, He provided practical tips on how to protect oneself from cyber threats. Following the presentation, an interactive session was held where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Alka Bamotra, who expressed gratitude to Mr. Ashwani Kumar for his insightful session and to all the participants for their active involvement. The program was well-received by the attendees, who left with a deeper understanding of cyber security and the measures they can take to protect themselves in the digital world. Overall, the Cyber Awareness program organized by the NSS Unit was a great success, reinforcing the institution's commitment to promoting digital literacy and safety among its students and staff.

Variksh Rakshabandhan Celebration 2024

Under the able and dynamic leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and with the efforts of Nodal Officers, Ms. Mandeep Bedi and Dr. Amita, Eco-Club and VENTEL cell of the college celebrated Vriksh Raksha Bandhan wherein the Principal, staff and students tied hand- made rakhis to the trees and took a pledge to protect them like their siblings. An Eco-Rakhi making Competition was also organised in which the students made rakhis using either seeds, flowers, leaves or other plant parts or waste materials. Some of the rakhis bearing the eco-conscious slogans spread the message of the need of environmental conservation, particularly by protecting the trees with love and care. Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Dr. Mridula ,Ms. Ramandeep and Dr. Isha Lumb took an active part in this initiative. Van Mahotsav celebration 2024

Under the able and dynamic leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and with the efforts of Nodal Officer, Ms. Mandeep Bedi, Eco-Club and Plantation Committee of the college celebrated Van Mahotsav by organising a plantation drive in the campus in the month of July. The plantation was done in line with #Plant 4 Mother Campaign launched by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. A number of shade, fruit--bearing and ornamental tree saplings were planted by Principal, staff and students of the college as a tribute to all the mothers and Mother Nature. Independence Day Celebration 15 August 2024

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with immense joy at Baring College, Batala, under the esteemed guidance of Principal (Dr.) Ashwani Kansra ji. The college campus was adorned with vibrant flowers and fluttering flags, creating a captivating atmosphere. Aligned in perfect rows, the NCC cadets performed a splendid parade, culminating in the uplifting moment when Principal Kansra ji hosted the National Flag, accompanied by the resonant notes of our National Anthem. His words echoed the significance of the day, and a deep reverence for our freedom fighters enveloped the gathering. He also mentioned the goal of the Indian Govt to make India a developed country before 2047.The stage was gracefully hosted by Prof. Ramandeep Kaur. Prof Ashwani Kumar's insightful reflections on Independence Day captivated the audience. Throughout the event, students and distinguished guests showcased remarkable performances, radiating the spirit of our sovereign nation. The principal, along with senior staff members, felicitated the participants with tokens of appreciation, commemorating their contributions. Dr Mirudula Dogra, Incharge of the NCC Department, concluded with the official vote of thanks, in the presence of both teaching and non-teaching staff .As the day drew to a close, a delightful spread of refreshments was shared among all, fostering a sense of unity and celebration.

NCC wing of Baring Union Christian College, Batala celebrated silver jubilee of "Kargil Vijay Diwas" on July 26, 2024 under the able guidance of Officiating Principal, Dr. Ashwani Kansra and NCC CTO, Dr.Mridula Dogra. A brief history and significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas was explained to students. Though, this day is celebrated with utmost glory and pride but at the same time, it is also a day of remembrance of brave soldiers who sacificed their precious lives to safeguard our country. In honor of these soldiers, two minute silence was observed by staff members, NCC cadets and students. Plantation was also done on this auspicious day as a mark of tribute to unwavering soldiers who fought for glorious victory of India during Kargil War.

 
 

The Orientation Programme of session 2024-25

On July 20th, 2024 an orientation programme was organized for new students of Baring College under the able guidance of the officiating Principal, Dr. Ashwani kansra. Dr. Ritu Pandi from the department of economics was the Coordinator of the Programme. The purpose of the event was to provide information to the newcomers about all the curricular and co-curricular activities taking place in the campus. The programme started with the Prayer to the almighty which was led by Rev. Sohal Lal Ji. Office Superintendent Mr. Robin Kumar gave a detailed knowledge about all the rules and deadlines set by Guru Nanak Dev University for students. Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma gave instructions to students for maintaining discipline in the college and about anti-ragging. It was followed by the speech of HODs of Post graduate departments, Professor Narinder Singh from Computer Science, Dr Jagvinder Kaur Cheema from the department of Commerce, Dr. Jatinder Kaur introduced Youth club activities as the coordinator of the Club.
Dr Amita information about Science Departments, Prof Parminder Kaur motivated the students to take part in different sports events. Dr Mridula Dogra made students aware about different events organized by N.C.C Unit of the college and encouraged students to join N.C.C. Prof. Alka Bamotra, Convener of N.S.S Programme also motivated students to take part in the various activities of the unit. Dr Anju Puri. introduced students to different facilities provided by the library of the college especially book bank facility. Dr. Rajni Bala gave the information about different activities organized by women Cell of the college and About Arts Department. At last Dr Ashwani Kansra, Principal of the college thanked all the students and teachers and wished good luck to all for the new session.He assured the students that they will get the best education in this college.

International Yoga Day 2024 Celebration at Baring Union Christian College, Batala The NSS unit of Baring Union Christian College, Batala marked the celebration of 10th International Day of Yoga under the overaching theme of “Yoga for Self and Society”. The Yoga Day celebration was presided over by Alka Bamotra (NSS Program Officer) under the guidance of the Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra. The session included demonstrations and teachings of various yoga asanas, highlighting their benefits for physical and mental health by NSS Volunteers. Participants were introduced to Pranayama techniques and stretching exercises designed to alleviate issues such as stress, depression, backaches and obesity. On this day Principal Dr.Ashwani Kansra also performed the Yoga Asans along with teaching, non-teaching and supporting staff of BUC College. Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra motivated the students and staff members for making yoga an essential part of their daily routine for obtaining a balance between body, mind and spirit. World Environment Day Celebrations June 4,2024

World Environment Day Celebrations Under the able and dynamic leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and with the efforts of Nodal Officer, Ms. Mandeep Bedi, Eco-Club of the college undertook certain initiatives to sensitize the students, staff and community towards the need to conserve and protect environment on the occasion of World Environment Day. In a series of events supported by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, GOI, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology and College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar, an awareness lecture, on the theme Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience, was organized on June 4,2024, where all the participants took a pledge to adopt proplanet lifestyle habits. Ms. Mandeep Bedi while sharing the grim scenario of land degradation, water shortages and heavy metal contamination of water and soil in Punjab, emphasized on the need to assume individual responsibility towards the restoration of the declining health of the vital ecosystems. Planting more and more trees and adopting environment friendly habits are the key to mitigate the problem of environmental degradation. Dr. Kansra, while expressing his concern over the rising temperature, motivated the participants to make their best efforts towards combating climate change. On June 5, 2024, Eco-Club (Convener: Ms. Mandeep Bedi) in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club (Convener: Dr. Amita) of the college, organized an awareness rally against the use of SUP(Single Use Plastic) in Subhash Park, Batala. The staff led by Principal, Dr. Kansra while holding the jute bags, tried to spread the message of discouraging the use of polythene bags that have led to the severe degradation of land. Further, some wooden bird houses were hung at certain places in the college so as to provide a safe nesting and feeding place to the birds that form an important component of biodiversity as they help in pollination, seed dispersal along with weed and pest management. The 74th Convocation of Baring Union Christian College, Batala, was held on February 28th, 2024, under the esteemed leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra. Renowned personality ,The Most Reverend Dr. P K. Samantaroy,Chairman,BUCCA;Bishop,Diocese of Amritsar (CNI) graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Guest of Honour Prof.(Dr.) Derick Engles, Secretary,BUCCA and other distinguished guests. The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Mandeep Bedi, who also adeptly hosted the stage along with Dr Jagvinder Kaur and introduced the esteemed guests to the audience. The Chief Guest inspired students to strive for excellence, emphasizing the importance of overcoming fear and embracing failure as a stepping stone to success. Congratulating the achievers on their academic milestones, he encouraged them to venture into new realms of opportunity. Degrees were then conferred upon more than 300 undergraduate and postgraduate students(session 2022-23) from various departments of the college. Principal Kansra extended heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries in his official vote of thanks, while also congratulating the students on their achievements and wishing them success in navigating real-world challenges. His words of inspiration resonated with the audience, urging students to explore the endless possibilities that lie ahead. The 75th Republic Day was celebrated at Baring Union Christian College with great fervor and zeal, under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra ji . The event commenced with the unfurling of the tricolor by Principal Kansra, followed by the stirring rendition of the Indian National Anthem.
Principal Kansra enlightened the students about the significance of Republic Day, while also extending congratulations on the auspicious occasion of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. He inspired everyone to contribute towards the elevation of India as a great nation.
The event featured captivating performances by the NCC cadets of the college, who also melodiously sang the NCC song. As a token of appreciation, prizes were bestowed upon all the participants for their exemplary spirits.

Science Society of BUC college organised inaugural function under the commited and able leadership of Officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and the guidance of Teachers-in-charge Mrs. Mandeep Bedi and Dr. Amita. In this function, debate (Theme: Is Artificial Intelligence: Boon or Bane), Eco models using waste material and singing competitions were held. Students also presented skit ( Theme: Impacts of Mobile phones) and dance performances in which they participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Mr. and Ms. fresher competition was also conducted, Avreetpal Singh and Palak were selected as Mr. and Ms. fresher. With the sun setting on the program, the winners of the various competitions were honoured by the Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Teachers-in-charge of society and judges of the respective events.

A two day workshop by Kotak Securities Financial Education Program- "Kona Kona Shiksha" was organised on 8th-9th September 2023 by PG department of Commerce of BUC College under the leadership of Principal Dr Ashwani Kansra and guidance of Dr Jagvinder Kaur Head of Commerce Department.
The presentation by the speaker of workshop Mr Ashok Singla was a blend of practical and theoretical wisdom. Dr Jagvinder Kaur in her introduction beautifully explained the achievements of Mr Ashok Singla. The whole workshop was divided into 6 brain storming sessions of discussions in which the students of B.Com 5th semester and M.Com took an active part and raised many important queries which were related to different aspects of security markets of India. Mr Singla explained different Market Avenues of investments available for investors and job opportunities available in securities market of India.

The presentation by resource person, Dr. Ashwani Kansra, was a symphony of motivation and practical wisdom. Prof. Mandeep Bedi, in her introduction, masterfully portrayed Dr. Kansra not just as a successful businessman but also as a luminary motivational speaker for the burgeoning cohort of young entrepreneurs.
Dr. Kansra's keynote plunged deep into the heart of the "Business Blaster Young Entrepreneur Scheme," demystifying the distinction between being a mere businessman and evolving into an astute entrepreneur. His discourse expanded to present innovative business concepts that traversed diverse sectors, from the dynamic IT industry to the tantalizing food domain. Under the Valuable guidance and leadership of Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Officiating Principal and appreciable efforts of Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyar, Head, Department of Economics and Convener of Guidance, Counselling and Placement Cell of Baring Union Christian College, Batala in collaboration with VENTEL Cell conducted an awareness lecture regarding the setting up of micro/small food processing enterprises under Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme on 21 August, 2023. Mr. Baljinder Singh, District Resource Person from Punjab Agro Industries Corporation acted as keynote speaker for the same. The programme was started with the formal welcome of guest by the principal, Dr. Ashwani Kansra. In his welcome address, Dr. Kansra conveyed the students that they should develop the qualities of depending on their own instead of relying on others. They stressed that this quality of self-sufficiency will help them to develop a range of skills and competencies that are valuable in both their personal and professional lives. Furhter, Mr. Baljinder Singh, guest of the day, in his presentation, made the students familiar with the concept of self reliance through PMFME scheme. He explained that Punjab Government and Government of India are taking joint initiative for setting up of micro/small food processing enterprises under the above-mentioned scheme. The main aim of the scheme is to enhance the competitiveness of existing individual micro-enterprises in the unorganized segment of the food processing industry and to promote formalization of the sector. To celebrate International Youth Day on Aug. 12, 2023, Society For the Promotion of Sciences in collaboration with Red Ribbon club organised Poster Making competition (Theme: Drug deaddiction, HIV AIDS and Blood donation)under the able and committed leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and Teachers-in-charge Prof. Mandeep Bedi and Dr Amita. The winners of this competition were honoured by Principal and the members of club and society.

 
 

Women Cell Of Buc College Batala Started Signature Campaign To Condemn Violence Against Women In Manipur

nder the guidance of Officiating Principal Dr Ashwani Kansra and Convener, Women Cell BUC College, Dr Rajni Bala, a signature campaign was initiatiated against the violence against women in Manipur. A flexi carrying the following message was displayed in the Arts Block.
"As the staff and students of Baring Union Christian College Batala we stand together in unequivocal condemnation of the atrocities committed against women in Manipur. We voice our collective outrage and demand justice. We urge the government to swiftly and decisively punish those responsible, sending a clear and indomitable message that such deplorable acts against humanity will not be tolerated. Our united stand is a testament to our commitment to justice, respect, and dignity for all".
Teachers and students registered their agreement to the message by putting their signatures on the flexi. The young students were quite agitated with the recent viral video about the atrocities on two girls in Manipur. They strongly condemned this violence and urged the government to take strict legal action against the perpetrators.

one day National seminar on "Entrepreneurship development through skills" was organized by the VENTEL cell of BUC college batala in collaboration with Ministry of Higher Education. The event was held with the valuable guidance of Dr Amita (Nodal officer ,VENTEL CELL ,BUCC) and Ms Mandeep Bedi (Co-ordinator, VENTEL Cell ,BUCC ) under the admirable leadership of principal (Dr. Ashwani Kansra ) Mr. Samarth Sharma ,Consultant ,MGNCRE and Mr. Ajay Tanwar ,Consultant MGNCRE acted as keynote speakers in the seminar. Mr. Sharma delivered his presentation on the topic “ Karigari to karobari : Skills to entrepreneurship". In his presentation , he made the students familiar with the concept of entrepreneurship, its objectives and the reasons to become an entrepreneur. He also explained the importance of self help group for students. Mr. Ajay Tanwar who delivered a very enriching presentation on the topic “Generating Customers through Social Media Marketing". He discussed in detail the social media marketing strategies ,emphasizing how different social media platform can be used to successfully promote small business and the right Social media platform for promotion and to find targeted audience or buyers.

FAREWELL TO Prof. LP SINGH

On the collective initiative of Dr Ashwani Kansra (Officiating Principal) and Prof Neeraj Kumar Sharma (Staff Secretary), a wonderful Farewell Function was organised in the Conference Hall to bid adieu to Prof. Likshanpal Singh, (Incharge, Department of Mathematics, BUCC), by theTeaching Staff of Baring Union Christian College (BUCC), Batala.

Prof. LP Singh entered the conference hall along with his wife, Mrs. Rupinder Kaur. They were very warmly received at the gate of the hall by the principal and gathered college staff members.

Dr. Vanita Roy prayed to almighty God to start the function in the Conference Hall. While hosting the programme Prof. Neeraj Sharma formally welcomed the chief guest and other guests, including former teachers of the Baring .

Prof. Parminderjeet Kaur (Incharge, Dept. of Physical Education), read out the impressive bio data of the retiring teacher and his family members with the staff and guests present.

Prof LP Singh's colleague Dr. BK Sharma who also joined the Baring in the same year, shared his close relationship with Prof Singh and talked about his first meeting with him.

While speaking, Prof. Narinder Singh (HoD, Computer Science &IT Department) revealed the helpful nature of Prof. Singh, by stating a real incident in the beginning of his own career.
Dr Lalit Kumar (Incharge, Dept. of Political Science & District President, PCCTU) unfolded Mr Singh’s qualities as a Unionist, who worked for the Punjab & Chandigarh College Teachers Union with a true zeal and conviction.
In his speech Prof. Paul Rajive McMullen (Incharge, Dept. of History) honoured him by saying him an embodiment of 'Chardikala' (always in high spirit), representing the true spirit of Punjab. He appreciated Prof LP Singh's love for exploring exotic lands through the organisation of numerous tours/trips in the college.
The message expressing best wishes from Mr SK Dey was read out on the stage by Dr Rajan Chaudhary (Incharge, Dept of Botany and Officiating Principal, BCSSS). He also expressed Prof LP Singh as a man of commitment and dedication.
Prof. JS Badyal (Former HoD, Political Science, BUCC) in his message described Prof LP as very popular amongst his students due to his positive virtues of regularity, punctuality and clarity. In his message which was read out by Prof Neeraj Sharma, showered his blessings on Mrs and Mr Singh.
Dr Edward Masih (Former BUCC Principal), who couldn't join due to some unavoidable reason, also wished him the best and showered his blessings, in his sent message.
While speaking Prof Ashwani Kumar (Asst. Professor Dept. of CS & IT) shared that he enjoyed the blissful company of Prof Singh, firstly as a student and then as a colleague. He also appreciated his knowledge of history.
Prof. Jagwinder Cheema (Associate Professor, Dept. of Commerce) pictured him as strict teacher who loves discipline in the class rooms.
While addressing the audience, Veteran/retired Prof. Omparkash ji also shared his personal relationship with Mr Singh.
Prof Sushma Sharma (Incharge, Hindi Department) uttered an emotionally charged colourful account of her memories with him.
In his speech Officiating Principal of the college, Dr Ashwani Kansra congratulated Prof LP on his successful completion of his services in the sound state of health on behalf of the college management. Dr Ashwani also read out on the stage, the best wishes sent by Dr Derrick Engels (Secretary, BUCCA). He stated his popularity among the students for his unique and simple teaching Methods. He expressed his concern over the huge gap in the frequent retirements and less number of new appointments of professors in the college.
While reciting few couplets in the honour of Prof LP Singh, Prof Neeraj Sharma thanked Prof Savita, Prof Ramandeep Kaur, Prof Parminderjeet Kaur, Dr Jatinderpal Singh, Dr Lalit Kumar, Dr Ritu Pandhi, Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Dr Sushma Sharma, Mr Emanuel, Mr Amanat, Mr Daniel, Mr Samson and Mr Robin for helping him in organising the event, with getting full cooperation from the Principal.
In his farewell address, Prof LP Singh, expressed his gratitude to the college management, principal; teaching as well as non-teaching staff, making his farewell function a memorable one. He appreciated all his colleagues from core of his heart.
Formal vote of thanks was presented by the officiating principal Dr Ashwani Kansra. The on stage function was followed by a group photograph and a lavish lunch.

 
 

Placement News of E faith Commerce

Under the Guidance and leadership of Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Officiating Principal and appreciable efforts of Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyar, Head, Department of Economics and Convener of Guidance Counselling and Placement Cell of Baring Union Christian College, Batala in Collaboration with Faith eCommerce Services conducted placement/ selection drive on April, 20 2023 for various post like Process Associate, Associate Project Manager, Content writer, Digital Marketing Executive and many more starting with the a salary package of Rs. 2 LPA.
In the beginning of the drive, Prof. Parminderjit Kaur, Head of Physical Education department and Member of Placement cell welcomed the gathering and gave a short brief about the programme. Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Officiating Principal welcomed the guests by presenting bouquet to them which was followed by welcome address, by him. In his address, he highlighted the importance of placement of students these days especially when students are going to abroad for bright career particularly in case of Punjab. He Lauded the efforts of the Placement committee and thanked the Ms. Varsha, Senior HR Associate and Ms. Charu, HR Executive for conducting the placement drive in the college to provide the students with the recruitment opportunities.
Approximately 80 final year students of Commerce and Computer stream participated in the drive, wherein as many as 50 students cleared the first round comprising of written test, aptitude test and e-mail writing test.
After the further shortlisting by officials from the company, 23 students appeared for the final interview round. We feel proud to share that our 04 students of our college got selected for the post of Process Associate in Operation Department. The name of the selected students are Jaskaranjeet Singh of BCA VI, Taranjeet Singh, Kritika and Pranchal of Bcom VI Sem.
The selected Candidates will be on 7-day On-the-job Training and after the completion of the training and tests, selected candidates will be given paid training for a period of 4 months, and after the training, the selected candidates will be provided full-time employment in the company.
Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyer, Convener of Placement Cell of BUCC thanked the guest for sparing their valuable time for the students and conducting placement drive at the college. The Committee members including Dr. Amita, Prof. Narinder Singh, Prof. Harprabh Singh, Ms. Amanjot were present in the programme. Prof. Ashwani, Prof. Aakash, and Prof. Alka Bamotra were also present in the drive. Stage was conducted by Prof. Harpreet singh Randhawa.

 
 

FAREWELL TO DR. BK SHARMA

On joint initiative taken by Dr Ashwani Kansra (Officiating Principal) Prof Neeraj Kumar Sharma (Staff Secretary) a retirement party/Farewell Function was organised on 28th April, 2023 at Conference Hall, Baring Union Christian College (BUCC), Batala, to bid adieu to Dr BK Sharma (Barinder Kumar Sharma), Associate Professor of English in the PG Department of English of the college.
Dr B K Sharma the chief guest of the day, entered the Conference Hall accompanied by Shri Sunil Chawla, Ex Manager SBI Jalandhar (his daughter's father in law), Mr. Hardesh Sharma (Dr BK's Younger brother), an established businessman of Amritsar and alumnus of Baring); Mr. Anmol Sharma CA. and Preetika MBA. ( his son and daughter in law respectively); Ms Malika ( his daughter MSc Chemistry), Mr. and Mrs. Sunil Sharma, Mr. Kusturi Lal Sharma and Kunal Sharma. They were given a very warm welcome at the gate of venue by Mr. Daniel B. Dass & Rev. Ayub Daniel (Members of BUCCA), Principal, Staff Secy, Dr Edward Masih (Former Principal) and gathered staff members.
The function opened with a prayer by Dr. Vanita Roy, and Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma, Incharge, Department of Philosophy, hosted the function being Staff Secy. of the college teaching staff. While delivering his welcome address he formally introduced Dr BK Sharma by sharing his complete biodata (highlighting his remarkable academic and personal achievements and his family members). The chief Guest, and other gusts were formally welcomed by Dr Ashwani Kansra, Prof Pawan Kumar, Dr Rajan Chaudhary, Dr Lalit Kumar, Dr Sushma Sharma, Dr Ritu Pandhi Nayyar and Prof Neha, by presenting them bouquets.
Afterward Prof. Pawan Kumar, HoD of PG Department of English congratulated Dr Sharma on the successful completion of his service, and wished him best of luck for the future. He shared his multidimensional relationship with Dr. B K Sharma as a friend, as a relative, and also a colleague. He praised him for his sincerity for the department and also for the college. Ms Penny Dass, Former Head, PG Department of English BUCC, shared her long association with Dr. Sharma, firstly as his teacher and then as a colleague. She stated that Dr. Barinder Kumar was entirely dedicated to his studies during his student days at Baring College itself. She also discussed the positive and the shaping role Dr. Sharma played in her daughter's life as her teacher to lead her to success.
Dr. Lalit Kumar, incharge Deptt. of Political Science, expressed his gratitude to Dr Sharma for sharing a strong bond of association with him that started during the organization of a college convocation. He also admired his great sense of humour which always revives a sense of solacement among the troubled people even in the difficult situations.
Prof. Savita of the English Department said that Dr Sharma is not just an English teacher and a worthy guide, but also a store house of knowledge. She appreciated him for his student centric approach of teaching, conviction and courageous nature.
De Rajan Chaudhary expressed his views of the enriching company of Dr Sharma which he enjoyed during his various meetings with him in the college campus.
Prof. Rajiv also shared his association with Dr Barinder Kumar by calling him a thorough gentleman. Further, he stated that Mr. Sharma followed whatever his father advised him, and that has made all the difference.
Dr Sushma Sharma, Incharge, Hindi Department, told that Dr. Sharma has always treated her as his sworn sister. She also cherished some of her past memories with him.
Dr Ashwani Kansra said the event is a reminder of the importance of recognizing and celebrating the hard work and dedication of our educators. Finally, he wished Dr BK Sharma all the best for his future endeavors and hoped that he will continue to inspire and guide others with his wisdom and experience.
Mr. Daniel B. Dass (Member, BUCCA) acknowledged the contribution of Dr Sharma to the college by labelling him as a remarkable and most efficient teacher as well as a good human being. He conveyed him best wishes and blessings on the behalf of the management.
. Ms Sunita Sharma, wife of Dr Barinder Kumar, thanked the college staff and management for organizing the event. She also counted the merits of Dr Sharma as a husband and father.
While speaking Dr Barinder Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts made by the staff and college management to make his farewell, a memorable experience and wished for the college to mark new heights of success. He shared the kind of struggle, he had to go through to reach his goals.
On the occasion Dr. BK Sharma'd new edited book of critical research articles entitled "Studies in Ramesh K Srivastva's Short Stories" was released. It is published by Authors Press: New Delhi, and it added a new milestone to his already existing scholarly works.
On the occasion a cheque of gratuity was handed over to him by the Principal and the Members of the management present.
While speaking again as officiating principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra payed a vote of thanks.
Prof Neeraj Sharma thanked Dr Ritu Pandhi, Prof Paul Rajive McMullen, Prof Ramandeep Kaur, Dr Lalit Kumar, Prof Parminderjeet Kaur, Prof Ashwani Kumar, Dr Sushma Sharma, Prof Satpal, Prof Harprabhdeep Singh, Mr Emanuel, Mr Daniel, Mr Samson, Mr Robin Kumar for rendering their help in different capacities to make the Farewell Function a grand success.
Later on Mrs. Sunita Sharma and Dr BK Sharma were presented gifts as symbol as their love and affection by the teaching staff of Baring.

Placement News of ICICI Bank By NIIT on 17, 18 april 23

In the beginning of the drive, Mr. Himanshu, Assistant Manager Sales, NIIT spoke about the need for the training to join a bank and interacted with the students and spoke about the changing skills sets of a bank employee.
84 students of final year (all streams) of the college participated in the drive, and appeared for the written test wherein after further scrutiny as many as 17 students were shortlisted for the Online Interview round and we feel proud to share that 14 students of our college cleared that round and have been selected for the role of “Relationship Manager” in ICICI Bank. Interested Candidates will go undergo for a training program with NIIT. Upon successful completion of training, candidate will get assured job at ICICI Bank.
Finally Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyer, Convener of Placement Cell of BUCC thanked the guest. The Committee members including Mr. Harpreet Singh Randhawa and Ms. Amanjot were present in the programme. Seminar on "First Aid and Anaemia Awareness" Organised by Department of Sociology

Under the leadership of Dr. Ashwani Kansra, officiating Principal and the guidance of Dr. Rajni Bala, Head, Department of Sociology, a seminar was organised on 3.4.2023 in the conference Hall, on the topic "First Aid and Anaemia Awareness: with Special Reference to the Health Problems of Girls". The seminar was jointly organised by the department of Sociology and Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Batala.

In the Beginning of the seminar programme coordinator, Dr. Rajni Bala welcomed all the delegates. Dr. Ashwani Kansra, officiating Principal, in his address, highlighted the importance of the awareness about the First Aid and Anaemia.

Dr. Ashish Jain, Senior consultant in Critical Care Unit, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar, who was the first resource person of the seminar, explained different techniques to provide First Aid to the needy person. In a very simple language, he highlighted the importance and procedure of the First Aid especially, 'how to give CPR? What are the precautions to be taken during this process? How to help a person who is getting breathless?

The second resource person Dr. Ruchika, consultant, OBS and Gynae, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar, made her presentation on "Anaemia and Health problems of Girls". She discussed many important issues related to the topic as Anaemia among girls, irregularity in the menstruation cycle, problems faced by pregnant women etc. She encouraged the girl students to come forward to get help from the experts if they are facing any such problems. She stressed on the point that an open discussion is necessary at all levels regarding these issues.

Mrs. Neelam Mahajan, District chief patron, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, led the team from Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar and Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Batala. mr. Vinod Schdeva, Mr. Sandeep Salotra, Mr. Deepak Bakshi, Mrs. Gita Aggarwal, Mrs. Seema Batalvi, Mr. Deepak were present in the seminar. Officiating Principal of BUC College, Dr. Ashwani Kansra thanked all the delegates especially Doctors from Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar, for sparing their valuable time for the students. He also congratulated the department of Sociology for organizing a seminar on such an important issue. Prof. Parminderjit Kaur conducted the stage. Baring bazaar on March 14, 2023.

Under the aegis of Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Ministry of Education, GOI, Vocational Education -Nai Talim Experiential Learning cell of BUC College, organised, Baring bazaar on March 14, 2023. Bazaar was organised under the able and committed leadership of officiating Principal Dr Ashwani Kansra and guidance of Nodal officer Dr. Amita & Coordinator Prof. Mandeep Bedi. 19 Students Self Help Groups (SSHGs) of different streams of college, participated with great zeal and enthusiasm in this bazaar. The purpose of this event was to create the skill of entrepreneurship among the students. Food corner, art corner, creative corner, drinks corner and beauty corner were the main attractions of this event. The concerted efforts of the team members i.e. Dr Jagwinder Kaur, Dr Ritu Pandhi, Ms. Anupreet, Ms. Alka Bambotra and Mr. Akash Gill made this event a big success..

73rd Annual Convocation in Baring Union Christian College. On 10th March, 2023 Baring Union Christian College held its 73rd Annual Convocation under the esteemed leadership of Dr. Ashwani Kansra ( Officiating Principal).The Most Rev. Dr. P.K Samantaroy (Chairman BUCCA) was the Guest of honour on this Occasion. Many other dignitaries Mr. Alwan Masih ( Member BUCCA), Mr.Daniel B.Dass( Property Manager) ,Rev. Ayub Daniel(Finance Advisor) Mr. Om Parkash, Rev. Dr. Vinita Roy , Pulak Samantaroy , Rev. Mustaq , Mr .Abhishek Mitchel, Mr .Mohinder Singh also graced the occasion with their presence. Rev. Dr. Vinita Roy praised the lord and prayed for the college and students well being.The ceremony started with the lightning of lamp by the chairman along with the other dignitaries. The degrees were awarded to more than 300 students . The principal congratulated all the degree holders. Mr. Robin Kumar (Office Superintendent), Mr.Jagjeet Singh , Mrs. Neelam Sharma, Charanjit Masih , Makhan Singh were appreciated and honored for their efforts in making this event a grand success. All the teaching and the non-teaching staff were also present .

 
 

Baring College Celebrates International Women’s Day on March 7

Under the guidance and motivation of the officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and Convener, Women Cell, BUC College Dr. Rajni Bala, Baring College celebrated International Women’s Day 2023 on March 7, 2023, in the conference hall. In her introductory speech, Dr. Rajni Bala apprised the audience that every year Women Cell of the college celebrates this day with full zeal and enthusiasm. All the lady teachers of the college try their best to encourage the girls to come forward and speak for their rights.
The Officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra in his address offered his best wishes to the girls and lady teachers on International women’s Day. He promised to give all his support to encourage the girls and stressed on the need for an egalitarian society. He also quoted the contribution of many great women in the development of society. Under the guidance and supervision of the lady teachers; Dr. Amita, Prof. Anu, Dr. Jagvinder, Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Dr. Sushma, Prof. Savita, Prof. Mandeep Sandhu, Dr. Anju Puri, Dr. Jatinder, Dr. Isha Lumb and others, different activities were also held. Students took an active part in the Painting/sketching competition, Poetical recitation, singing competition and solo/group dance. Prof. Parminderjit kaur, while acting as stage secretary, stressed on the need for women representation in different spheres. Prof. Mandeep Bedi and Prof. Jagvinder Kaur also addressed the girls.
At last, Dr. Ashwani Kansra honoured the winners and congratulated the members of the Women Cell for organizing such an activity. The convener of the Women Cell thanked the Principal for his wholehearted support and promised to continue this journey towards equality and equity. She also thanked the teachers and the students for their active participation.

National Science Day

To celebrate National Science Day on Feb. 28, 2023, Society For the Promotion of Sciences organised a Guest Lecture on Common Health Problems in Youngsters under the able and committed leadership of officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and Teachers-in-charge Prof. Mandeep Bedi and Dr Amita. The resource person, Dr. Monica punj. elaborated on the common health issues that are being faced by the youth these days. She emphasized that through physical work and yoga, one can overcome health problems. Potted plant / Flower Show was also organised by Plantation Committee. 24 students participated in this show. Mahakdeep Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Harpreet Kaur, Jasmeet Kaur, Esha Sidhu, Kirandeep Kaur, Simranjeet Kaur and Nikhil Joshi were the winners of this competition.

Republic day celebration

On 26th January, 1950 the constitution of India came into force and the country became a republic. To mark this event, Today 74th Republic day celebrated at B.U.C College, Batala with great reverence under the directions of Dr. Ashwani Kansra, officiating Principal of the college. The day begun with hoisting of flag by Dr Kansra . The students, staff and NCC cadets salute the National Flag and pledged themselves to uphold the honour and integrity of India. Guests, teachers, staff and students joined together in singing National Anthem. The speech by the students on this day emphasized the importance of corruption free, violence free India, literacy, equality and respect for elders. Principal Sir formally welcomed the Guests, staff and specify the importance of Republic Day in Indian History. Ms Alka Incharge of NCC Unit, delivered the vote of thanks. Voter's day celebrated on 25-01-2023 at BUC College Batala

According to the directions received from election commission of India, Voters awareness programme conducted on the occasion of National Voters day at Baring Union Christian College Batala under the able guidance of Officiating Principal Dr Ashwani Kansra and supervision of Dr Lalit Kumar and Dr Amita from Red Ribbon Club. Around 120 students and 20 teachers participated in this programme. Voter's pledge presented by Mr Narinder Singh, Hod of computer science department.
